You're the reason I sleep with the lights on...
Why Sundays are wonderful:
- It doesn't really matter whether you have time for it or not, you always sleep a little longer, and it feels so good. You can catch up on weeks of sleep-deprivation this way.
- Your feet, exhausted and slightly aching from last night, have no reason to wear anything but big socks.
- People are generally happier on Sundays. Must be something in the air.
- You have time to be a little blue, and you can wallow if you want, with a cup of tea, a blanket and a self-help book.
- You don't spend any money
- You're almost always alone or with someone you really want to be with.
- You can admire Saturday's purchases
- You take time to do the little things like tidy up, do laundry, schoolwork etc. and not be pestered by them. You get things done AND you don't feel shitty while doing them.
- Any form of activity is automatically admirable. The concept of Sundays is built on that of laziness.
- The neighbours do funny things! At least they are right now: There's an old couple into whose flat I have quite a clear view. The window to the kitchen is right next to that of the master bedroom. Right now the man is poking his head through the curtains and out of the bedroom window, looking down at the ground. His wife is doing the exact same thing in the kitchen, poking her head out of the window and looking down, and she's having a little chat with her husband like that: in different rooms, with both their heads out the windows.
- The tea. The perfect Sunday drink.
- Mum cooks!
- The feeling of having time to be silly. Or hungover. Or both.
- PostSecret updates!
- You almost can't avoid reading something, and reading promotes happiness. I'm quite sure it does.
- You sometimes feel absolutely giddy, as if you were in love even though you're not. It's like being in love with the day, or the world. Or perhaps someone you didn't know you were in love with. Your mind can fit in this kind of thing on Sundays.
- Church bells
- Nick Drake and Nick Cave. My Sunday men. Also, THE Sunday song, 'A certain peace' by Radka Toneff, preferably the 'Live in Hamburg' version.
- List-making
- Almost everything, really. Sundays are the best.

General update:
Mood: Good, very good. Occasionally giddy - see list. Almost always happy. Energetic (well, more than usual). Pensive. Driven. Bright.
Outfit: Another good Sunday thing. Not even going there. But a description would contain the word 'lusekofte'.
Yesterday night: Was... Ok. Mr X, who turned out to be Mr. J, was not, as assumed, hot, funny and happy to entertain, but obnoxious-looking, with a dull sense of humour and apparently otherwise engaged, so he left early (which didn't exactly make for a heart-wrenching loss). The rest of the evening was spent watching a very happy, very in-love couple trying to keep their hands off each other (and failing miserably), and slotting in the occasional comment on the music. Even though I bumped into quite a few old friends, I left early. No surprises there.
Currently reading (some more actively than others): Morgenbladet. Great Expectations by Dickens. Lady Chatterley's Lover by DH Lawrence. Madness and Civilisation by M Foucault. Kanelbutikkene og andre fortellinger by Bruno Schulz. Om Litteraturen by Umberto Eco. Cosmopolitan, UK ed. The Buddha of Suburbia by Hanif Kureishi. Marie Claire (UK).
Looking forward to: Going to the theatre on Friday to see Gry's choir's amateur musical 'Robin Hood'. This week of school, God knows why. Finishing things. Gilmore Girls. Tonight's planned manicure (desperately needed!). A certain phone call. Having my hair cut (though that won't happen this week). My busted toe (mean Lisbon shoes!) getting well. Cleaning my room (ick!). Making more lists.

I completely lost track of where I was going.

Sorry about the hands off thing.. I don't think I quite share your positive view on Sundays, but I'm happy that you like them! You really should check out Neko Case's travelouge. It's so sweet and funny. Here's the link: http://www.nekocase.com/travelogue/2005/03/im_always_hungry_ii.html

No worries babe. You looked so very, very happy, and that's so much more important than anything else. You deserve it. I'm sure I'll be pestering you in the same way some time, and when I do, remember Saturday!
Besides, I got a little TLC from Julie, so things worked out well enough.
